| Saturday,
February 24th will go down in history as one of
S.A.W.'s most exciting shows ever.
The main event of the
evening pitted Maxx Burton against Fronz Roddy
for the S.A.W. Television Championship. This
match was the result of a challenge Fronz had put
forth earlier in the evening when he claimed that
beating Burton in Rutland, VT would be a
significant addition to his win list.
Unfortunately for Fronz, that was not the case.
Even with Hanz trying to interfere, Burton gained
the decisive victory and not only won the title,
but he ended Roddy's 10 month long undefeated
streak. A rematch has already been signed for
"Altercation at the Armory" on April
21st at the Swanton Armory.
In a special challenge
tag match, Michael Monroe and Legion
"Freakin" Cage defeated Big Vigo and
S.A.W. Heavyweight Champion, Drake Evans. This
match was set up by Commissioner Dick Willard as
a favor to Vigo and Yvonna Leach, thanks to a
monitary donation from Leach. Vigo chose Evans as
his mystery partner. Both teams showed great
continuity, but in the end Monroe would score the
victory on Evans with an inside cradle roll up.
This win has earned Monroe a shot at the
Heavyweight title.
Chris Envy became the new
S.A.W. Cruiserweight Champion in an exciting
4-way elimination match that featured Tom Ugly,
Scotty Vegas and former Cruiserweight Champion,
Nocturne. This match was the result of Dick
Willard stripping Angel of the title for not
fulfilling his obligations. You could say that
Envy's new valet, Miss Montgomery, had a hand in
the win because as Nocturne was going to hit his
finisher on Envy, the little miss distracted
Nocturne enough for Envy to win the match and the
title.
Divine Diversity
Dominates! The Northern Studd and The Bull came
out on top of the Tag Team Turmoil Match to
become the no. 1 contenders to S.A.W. Tag Team
Titles. It would appear the rifts between them
have been mended. Word is that they will get
their shot at the The Aldens on April 21st.
Former S.A.W. Heavyweight
Champion, Marcus Hall, made a special unannounced
appearance at "Mission: Marble City" to
face J.P. Black in a fantastic match. "The
Dark Pony" would come out on top, but Marcus
Hall showed that he is still one of the top
performers in S.A.W.'s history.
This event was a fund
raiser for the Rutland Open Door Mission and
thanks to the incredible turn out of fans, the
show raised $1000 for the charity. This is by far
the largest fund raiser for a professional
wrestling event ever in the state of Vermont.
Thanks to all those fans who made the night so
exciting.
